To do that, there are few things you should consider.
- Install an SEO plugin [we like Yoast]
- Write a Yoast friendly post or make a post Yoast friendly.
First step: Install Yoast SEO plugin:
Install Yoast SEO plugin. And activate it.
You will be redirected to Yoast setup page automatically. Provide the information as it says.
Now, go to its dashboard. You will see some options for Webmaster tools, your info, title and meta, social, sitemap etc.
Put down there your main keyword optimized meta description.
Now, copy the XML sitemap link and add it to Google Webmaster tools.
In Social option, you can provide your social media links. It will tell the search engine that you are real. It will increase Domain Trust.
Second step: Write an SEO friendly post that is also be Yoast friendly!
The keywords you researched for the post are now in use. Your main keyword should be in focus keyword field in Yoast SEO plugin. Make sure that this keyword also is in the Title tag, meta description, URL slug and post content.
First of all, your keyword should be in the post title. Use your smartness to write an SEO friendly title tag. Use some “emphasize” words, some stats. For an example:
“10 ways to get search engine ranking” or “Effective ways to make your site Google friendly”. Get it?
In meta description, write a concise version of the post. Like you will let the world know about the post at a glance. Make sure the meta description texts are not exceeding 156 words. Generally, 120 words are just fine.
It will be great if you could use your keyword in post URL slug. But, not that important. Always try to make it short.
In post content, make sure you are using the main keyword in the content several times. Referring 2/3 times will be fine. It would be also great if you make some internal links.
Wait….do not forget secondary keywords. Try to use 3-4 keywords. Use them smartly. Like, start a topic. Use as Google LSI.
Why you do that? ‘Cause, the Google bot always look for relevant content. They crawl the best content automatically and get them in search result ranking. Don’t be so oversmart. Don’t stuff keywords. The Google bot is smart enough to get you caught. 😉
